We woke up around 1:00 to have a light breakfast at the canteen, and then resumed the climb at 2:00. The part of walking up to the summit is pretty daunting because of the steep hills, no harness and it'll be in the dark! But don't worry, all you need is a good headlight and gloves, so you can get a grip on the ropes and the rocky terrain, plus the mountain guides are with you ready to lend a hand when needed, all of them are super friendly and experienced! It's also super cold at the top, always 0 Celsius or lower.
⛄️
If you want to catch the sunrise, do not arrive the summit too earlier or late, every month the sunrise is different timing, so in August 22nd sunrise is 6am.
If u arrive too early u will need to hide in a big rock to keep warm till the sunrise is out.
🌄
When u reach the summit, everyone is lining up for taking pictures, but this will not be easy and you have to be patient waiting in line, because is really freezing, especially when you take off your gloves. Pls bring a GoPro or something is long lasting battery camera, because of the cold, my iPhone shut down itself after taking the video of the sunrise.
📸
We stayed up at the top around 30 minutes because the sunrise and scenery is magnificent! The moment is very touching and be proud of yourself! Born and brought up in Sabah, this is my first time and I successfully climbed up the highest mountain in south east Asia in my hometown!
💪🏼
Slowly walking down and you will realise how crazy the trails are, because u only see it when sun is out, during the climbing u won’t see anything because is dark!
